Pet waste removal

How often should you pick up dog waste in your yard?

Plan a practical dog-waste cleanup routine for your Orlando-area yard based on your dogs, outdoor space and household habits.

The short answer

Pick up waste promptly when you notice it, and choose a recurring routine based on the number of dogs, the usable yard space and how often your family spends time outside. A scheduled service helps with the routine, but does not replace pickup between visits when needed.

Start with how your yard is used

There is no single service interval that fits every household. A dog that uses a compact outdoor space and several dogs sharing a large lawn create different cleanup needs. Areas beside the patio, along a walking route or where children play may need attention more often than less-used corners.

Notice where waste collects and whether it builds up between your current cleanups. The right question is not only “How many dogs do I have?” but also “Is the routine keeping the spaces we use manageable?” Changing a schedule is sensible when the household or the way you use the yard changes.

Keep a simple between-visit habit

If you see waste while letting the dog outside, pick it up rather than waiting for the next scheduled cleanup. Keep appropriate pickup supplies available and follow local disposal guidance. For pet health questions or concerns about an animal's waste, speak with your veterinarian.

Professional recurring pickup can take a routine chore off your list. It should not be treated as a guarantee that the yard will remain waste-free until the next visit. Dogs continue to use the yard, and households may still want to do spot pickup before outdoor activities.

  • Check the areas your family uses most.
  • Pick up visible waste before using the lawn.
  • Review the routine when dog count or yard use changes.
  • Agree on access and where the dogs will be during service.

Why rain matters in Orlando

The City of Orlando explains that pet waste can wash into storm drains and contribute to pollution in local waters. Removing it is part of caring for the yard and the surrounding community—not just keeping the grass looking tidy.

Do not rely on rain to clean up waste. When you are checking the yard, pay attention to areas near drains or places where runoff flows. The city's guidance is a useful local reference for understanding why regular pickup matters.

Choose a service rhythm, then review it

Yuzu offers weekly, twice-weekly and three-times-weekly pet-waste removal. Rather than choosing solely by the plan name, share the number of dogs, approximate yard size, current condition and the places you want covered. If the yard needs an initial catch-up cleanup, mention that before the first visit.

Your schedule, service area and access arrangements are confirmed before service starts. If a gate is locked or the dogs will be outside, discuss the visit plan with Yuzu. Keep private gate codes out of the Home Advisor chat and provide them directly when arrangements are agreed. You can review the current per-visit pricing on the pet-waste removal page before requesting service.
